Three original old model 3100 Ant chairs overpainted in red. Under the red paint there is a teak faced plywood seat connected on top of a tubular steel base. This chair has three rubber capped feet. Fritz Hansen also produced a version with four legs. This chair was designed in 1952 for use in the canteen of the Danish pharmaceutical firm Novo Nordisk. The Ant Chair is a classic of Danish mid century modern design. The name - the Ant – was given for its approximate similarity to the outline of an ant with its head raised.
